Michael Canney is a Colorado-based photographer whose practice centers on studio work and portraiture. He will receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography in May 2026. Recently, Canney has focused on constructing dynamic scenes using miniatures and toys, blurring the line between staged fiction and lived reality. Drawing from comics and pop culture, his work explores characters, environments, and narratives based in worlds we all know and love. Through careful composition and scale manipulation, he invites viewers to reconsider perception and storytelling within the photographic frame. This marks his first exhibition, featuring his project Action in Suspension.
