Anna Kates is a photographic artist based in Denver, Colorado, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado Denver this spring 2026. She found her love of photography as a child while taking pictures of the beautiful outdoors in her home state of Colorado, as well as other places she has traveled. Her recent work is still inspired by nature but takes a more unconventional approach. She focuses on how things that are natural and familiar can become strange and otherworldly through digital manipulation, and what meanings we can draw from those ideas. She has exhibited works in several shows, including at the Daniels & Fisher Tower with Night Lights Denver, and at the Mint & Serif Coffee House with The Women’s Caucus for Art Colorado. Her series “Visions of a New Reality” will be featured at the “Threshold” BFA Thesis Exhibition this May of 2026.
