Ven (it/its pronouns) is a comic & concept artist interested in drawing the lives of miserable people. Raised by drunk aimless punks (and too many cartoons/comics), it’s characters and settings are semi-autobiographical to much of how it has experienced Denver. From Denver’s superfund sites built on environmental racism, to the emptiness of its streets at night, to the dizzying array of ever-expansive architecture and cranes, Ven pulls from both the personal and from intense research to build narratives examining intimate relationships as the microcosm of larger power structures.
Its non-narrative illustrations tend to focus on creatures like monsters and furries, trans & brown joy/rage, buildup of texture, and especially the lovely and most wonderous color that is yellow.
