Maria Rosales is a fine art and freelance photographer based in Denver, CO. Maria’s interest in photography began in 2015 when she took her first photography class in middle school. She later rediscovered her passion in 2022 when taking an introductory photography course at Colorado Mesa University. She then transferred to UCD where she began her photography degree and started freelance photography.
Maria primarily works with black and white film and creates silver gelatin prints in the darkroom. Her film projects are centered on exploring the world of abandoned objects, whether found at antique stores, estate sales, or the side of the road. Through these images, Maria hopes to forge deeper connections with the collective human history and indirect connections with previous owners of the objects.
Maria also works with color digital photography for her freelance work. Her digital projects involve portraits as well as landscapes and cityscapes. Her portrait work includes headshots, senior photos, family portraits, engagement photos, modeling, pet portraits, and more. Maria’s more personal landscape photography focuses primarily on the Denver area, but she also takes landscapes during her travels.
