Vivian is a first-generation Chinese-Vietnamese American from Louisville, Colorado. Her love for horses—she was born in the year of the horse—sparked her passion for drawing. As a young preschooler, she often accompanied her dad to his work at the family restaurant in downtown Louisville. When there was downtime, she’d consistently ask him for one thing: to draw a horse for her. After observing her dad many times, she was inspired to start drawing horses on her own. Her, albeit silly, drawings of horses would eventually morph into other subjects that interested her as she grew up.

Vivian enjoys creating vivid anime-inspired illustrations full of whimsy and pretty things to bring joy and to exhibit her dreams of sharing her art and inspiring others to pursue their own creative endeavors, just like how her dad inspired her. In 2022, she launched her small business under the name Viviitartt and now exhibits in artist alleyways at anime conventions to share her dreams and artworks in the form of colorful prints and various merchandise like charms, enamel pins, standees, tote bags, etc. From her detailed and dynamic illustrations to cute chibi-style merchandise, her art of a peculiar silly-looking creature tends to stand out and incite laughter. To this very day, she still remembers exactly how her 3-year-old self used to draw her very dear and precious Horse.

Sitting next to many of her artworks, Horse serves as a reminder that even the grandest of dreams can be made into reality.
