Joshua Alan Carson

Illustration

Josh is an illustrator originally from Wheat Ridge, Colorado who now lives in Arvada, Colorado. He primarily works digitally but also works with colored pencils and occasionally paints in acrylics. Much of his work utilizes his strength in realistic artwork to illustrate his favorite topics of interest, such as amusement parks, cars, architecture, history, film, music, and video games. Josh has always had an affinity for the arts, both in musical arts and visual arts. He has been drawing from an early age, having strengthened his skills over time while learning new mediums and new techniques. The art classes he has taken in his time at CU Denver have taught him many new techniques and helped him to figure out what types of artwork he enjoys creating most.

Josh recently worked with NOAA’s Chemical Sciences Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, where he created field campaign research posters while gaining work experience. He hopes to use these workplace skills, alongside his drawing abilities, as well as his knack for design in a career in illustration or potentially graphic design after graduation. In 2025 he is graduating cum laude from the University of Colorado Denver with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and illustration. Josh’s thesis depicts five popular muscle cars made by five of America’s car manufacturers during the golden age of American muscle cars, from 1967-1971.
